This drug contains 30 mg of codeine, 300 mg acetaminophen, and caffeine. I
find it extremely hard to believe that this killed an infant, unless under
unusual circumstances.
Perhaps the infant had some sort of metabolic problem where he did not
metabolize the drug(s). More likely (i'm just guessing here and reading
between the lines) is the mother was using large quantities of the drug(s)
as it says it was morphine and codeine used, and at 12 days, mothers usually
are not using painkillers past a few days postpartum. Perhaps this mother
had chronic pain and/or addiction and was taking very large doses. I hope
the details come out soon because once the media gets this it will be a
setback for bf, as usual.
