A young Sharbot Lake-area man, who set off a nationwide baby food scare when
he tampered with canisters of infant formula in an attempt to cut his
household expenses, has owned up to the scam.
It will be another four weeks, however, before 23-year-old Lance A. Badour,
finds out what it's really going to cost him. Justice Rommel Masse put
sentencing over to May 29, to allow for the preparation of a pre-sentence
report.
Badour's lawyer, Clyde Smith, asked that his client be allowed to spend a
week out of custody with his family before his sentencing hearing.
He's been behind bars at Quinte Detention since turning himself in late in
March. "He's anxious about his young wife and child," Smith told the court.
