Hi Everybody
Greetings from Australia. I've been reading the list for a couple of months and
have already learnt a great deal - thank you all - fascinating stuff.

We recently had a parliamentary inquiry into the health benefits of bf - the
comittee received the most submissions in 18 years. The report was tabled on
Aug 9 and is just about to be discussed in our House of Reps. The 22
recommendations that resulted from the inquiry are all fantastic (happy to
email if anyone would like to read them just ask via my address).

Being in private practice, I was thrilled to bits that #18 recommends IBCLCs
be given Medicare Provider registration as allied health professionals, so the
cost of getting help would no longer be such a deterrent. Recommendation
#22 is to fully endorse the WHO Code.

Getting it 'through' of course remains to be seen but here's hoping!

If you want to take a look, my website is:

Cheers, Julieanne
