Pam H stated "There were several articles in the local newspapers this
weekend on the disturbing trend here in the US towards the increase in
maternal mortality in the last decade. The number one culprit? C-sections,
especially elective repeat C-sections! According to the articles, the
national C-section rates are up to 29% here in the US!"
I totally agree that there is something wrong with this picture; however, in
Oklahoma City (probably all of OK) insurers have put a STOP to VBAC's. The
only place in the city where moms can VBAC is OU Health Sciences Center. It
is, of course, a teaching hospital.
Perhaps the insurance people need to see some of those studies.
