Hi All,
Pam Wrote:
Has this baby had a medical (specifically, neurological evaluation) or a
speech/OT therapy eval done? If not, I would suggest mom get the referrals
immediately. Sounds like there is a lot more going on than posterior tongue
tie. From the info you have given, I would be wondering if this baby has
some kind of syndrome. Where is baby at developmentally?
Keep us posted.
Pam and all - no baby has not yet been seen. I just saw them Tuesday (7-3)
and Dr should be reading the "URGENT" Dr report I sent that evening this
morning as I am sure he was off for the 4th. Developmentally - interesting
question. Baby was born at 38 wks and yet appears to me to still be very
'young' at 20 days old. His due date was 6-25 and was born on 6-13. He
just doesn't seem to be, as I see it, "In his Body". He sleeps a lot,
doesn't make a lot of involved eye contact - you know, when newborns really
look at you - he just really doesn't do that - he quickly looks elsewhere.
So, developmentally he is just not acting like a full term healthy kid.
Personally, I think it is at least partially due to his body issues - that
has to be very uncomfortable and many other babies I have worked with whose
bodies were messed up in similar ways behaved the same way. Once the issues
were corrected, however, they suddenly "woke up" and became aware of their
surroundings and were "In their bodies" and actively engaging mom and dad
and others.
For all who have responded privately - Thank you!
Take care.
Jaye
