Let me introduce another word into this discussion.
I'd like for us to say that bottle/formula feeding is "common." It is not
normal or natural, but "common" - in that, at this point in time, it is
frequently done.
It doesn't mean that it is right or wrong, but at this time, its just
"common".
(I also like the fact that another meaning of "common" would be "less
than").
Ie breastfeeding is normal, and if someone argues that actually
bottlefeeding is "normal" (because it is widely practiced), you say, "no,
actually bottle/formula feeding is just common today in North
America, it is not normal for humans"
