Actually Lynn, they do.
The Internet has many 'proud formula feeder' forums, and you stray into
them at your peril. Many a breastfeeding mother image is burned in
effigy, and an amazing amount of hatred and bigotry spilled. The Mums
in these forums, claim that the nasty high grounded raving lunatic
breastfeeders, are always ramming nonsense down their throats and trying
to make them feel guilty for choosing formula.
User Icons are used to support their views and denigrate
breastfeeders. One that once struck me, said in animated flashes "it's
just milk, not love."
There are a few breastfeeding Mums, acting equally badly. So it is
equal opportunity bigotry. (In my opinion, the 'bad' ones are the ones
who claim it doesn't matter what problems the mother had, no 'real'
mother would ever give in and give formula whilst there was breath in
her body - never mind flesh on her nipples. The idea that failing to
breastfeed, is weakness in the mother, not failure by those supporting
the mother. Such views are rare, but they are there.).
I often imagine I can hear the sound of tills running up profits, and
nasty gnome like formula marketeers rolling their hands in glee, as the
shrieks and abuse raise the temperature all around.
They must love it.
So the website is very much trying to attract these Mums, and get them
to recruit fellow formula feeders, by telling the truth about the
breastfeeding conspiracy.
