I am in my first year or practicing as an IBCLC.  A woman contacted me 
regarding inducing lactation for an adopted baby.  I would very much like to 
help her with this, but am a little anxious of the Domperidone situation in the 
U.S.  I have looked at the Newman protocol.  My question is: am I working out 
of my scope of practice by suggesting the protocol and the use of 
Domperidone in the U.S.  I understand it is not FDA approved in the US, but is 
available by prescription at compounding pharmacies, and can be ordered 
online with a prescription.  I saw at one website that said "pharmacies have 
been warned" not to compound, and are at "risk for enforcement actions".

I guess that is what bothers me about recommending this to my patients.
Is there anyone out there in the U.S. who has worked with patients inducing 
lactation and have used the Domperidone?  What is everyone's thoughts on 
this regarding using it in the US.
