In the end, all I need to know is WOULD IT HURT?
To...take domperidone while pregnant?
To take galatogogue herbs while pregnant?
To pump while pregnant?
To continue nursing the toddler while pregnant?
To do anything else?
Maybe you think it would do 'no good', but would it HURT?
I think the risk for it (domperidone, certain herbs, and pumping, for
certain mothers) hurting the current pregnancy is definitely there, and
because none of those things have been studied to improve outcomes for these
mothers during pregnancy (but many have after birth), I'd err on the side of
either getting more information, or abstaining altogether because the risk
vs. benefit is unclear at best, too risky to the pregnancy at worst.
The only things I've heard of working for some mothers have been
progesterone supplements in the 1st trimester and at the end of the
pregnancy, goats' rue, metformin use if the mother has PCOS, and very early,
frequent, diligent postpartum support for breastfeeding management.
