Well, I hope we all are enjoying the true irony of this question, involving
a "medical malfunction" the the gland known as the human breast, coming in
the very same digest where we Lactnetters are heaving-and-sighing about
whether BF and breasts require an MD's care.
Yup, this 15-year-old needs to see her doc.
My Taber's medical dictionary 19th ed. defines mastitis as an "inflammation
of the breast. This condition is most common in women during BF in the
second or third postpartum week; however, it may occur at any age."
