There's one other thing I feel compelled to add to this discussion on
allergies, green stools, etc. which deals with the original question -- is
it oversupply/overactive let-down or is it allergies/sensitivities?

I've seen a few cases where the baby does great being bottle-fed ABM for a
few days, while mom pumps, then baby gets symptoms back after going back to
the breast. People tend to think automatically that it's the mother's milk
when it might very well be the delivery system.

I always ask questions about oversupply and overactive let-down and
completely rule that out before I check about the diet. Frequently, the
problem is a combination of the two -- I think I might have even been in on
a discussion somewhere that dairy intake and oversupply might bemore than
coincidentally related? Anyway, I've been very sad to hear of mothers who
give up breastfeeding because "the baby did so well on the bottles" without
ever trying MOTHER'S MILK in the bottle.

(This very example is one big reason I want to work as an IBCLC with my own
pediatricians. I want to be there to suggest these intermediate steps they
might not consider.)
