I have no problem including a scale as a tool in a BF Support Group - I have
even done test weights in certain situations during my support group. It is just
the weekly weighing for months on end, of healthy thriving breastfed babies
that bothers me. If it were a formula feeding support group would we be
weighing these babies all the time? So what kind of message are we sending
breastfeeding mothers by condoning the constant weighing? On the one hand
we say "breastfeeding is the norm" "trust the process" but there's that scale,
sitting there all the time, sending out subtle little clouds of doubt. That said -
I'm not getting rid of my scale either, it's definitely useful, I just have to figure
out how to break their addiction.
Kathy
