stand up alone, need to do so to give courage to the ones who just need the
safety of one other person by their side." 

But remember it takes a lot out of you to be the one, year after year, 
standing up alone.  If you see someone doing it, why don't you join her 
sometimes or even take a stand yourself rather than saying 'well I know 
she'll do it, so I don't have to'?
