HI All,
I'm entering uncharted territory by doing limited LC hours in our NICU
(there is not a position for an LC currently). I would like to address one
of our most pressing issues with good evidence based research and present
it to our Docs. That being GIVING THE COLOSTRUM as available to the baby
when mom is planning on breastfeeding and NOT GIVING FORMULA. Yes, hard to
believe but this is an issue we actually need to address. I feel confident
that it will be easy to change this policy if the data is presented well.
And I want them to appreciate the desperate need for us to create a full
time position for LC in the NICU. Wish me luck and any input from "those
of you more experianced in NICU LC issues" is greatly appreciated.
Peace,
Valerie Goodman RN, IBCLC
