I am very intersted in finding out how many on this list do outpatient
consultation as part of their jobs, and how these consults are billed.
1. Do you collect the money from the patient?
2. Do the patients need to sign in at the hospital as an outpatient before
they are seen by the LC?
3. Do you bill insurance, or do you charge a flat rate?
4. How was the flat rate agreed upon, or if you bill insurance, what
percentage of the time does insurance pay?
THANK YOU!! I desparately need this info. The hospital I work at has always
charged a flat rate of $35 for each consult, and now wants to go to a system
where patients will have insurance billed. I am afraid this will turn a lot
of people away, if they know that their insurance won't cover it and they
can get stuck with a $150 bill (especially those on Medicaid).
Thanks,
Brenda Phipps, BS, IBCLC
