I agree with all that's been ssaid. I also try to teach moms the
difference between an eating suck and "I'm just sucking to suck" suck while they are in
the hospital. I know mom's don't hear all we say but I believe we need
reinforce that observation. So many mom's are just so happy that baby is at the
breast they don't realize that baby is not eating.
Then you have the moms who are the clock watchers and the peds who tell
moms that there really isn't anything in the breast after 15 minutes.
