I would like to add a comment to what Morgan stated about the stand the FDA has taken on Domperidone use in the US. She said:

It's worth mentioning, from waaaay over here in the UK, that the USA FDA
take on Domperidone being 'dangerous' is completely confusing to us. In the
UK, it's available over the counter without prescription - although not by
design for lactation issues.

FDA obsessions notwithstanding, there are issues of internal USA politics on
drugs and drug monies, that appear to affect domperidone's standing
mightily.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And, I find it confusing that the US FDA is "cracking down" on the off label use of domperidone in the US but they aren't 'cracking down' on the off label use of Cytotec for induction of labor, even after bad outcomes have been well publicized (has anyone read in the newspaper about incidents of death from oral domperidone used to support lactation?) and the manufacturer of Cytotec has openly stated it shouldn't be used for that. I think that speaks volumes about the influences power and money have on the FDA in the US.
