Thanks Catherine,
I called our local Oral Surgeon and I don't think he is familiar with posterior
tongue tie. He clips all the anterior ones I send to him. He said he would be
interested in having a look to see if the tongue is interfering with the
breastfeeding, but I don't know if he would clip a posterior frenulum. I was
unable to get him to talk to me about a submucosal tongue tie. But he did
agree to allow me to accompany the mother for the examination. Thanks for
the information, I will take it with me to help him understand where I'm coming
from.
It would be very nice to have more information available for LC's in this area.
Are there any classes or courses out there for someone like me to take to
have a more solid understanding of assessment? I live in Chatham, ON,
Canada, about an hour from Detroit MI.
