Hi Lactnetters,
I am pitching the idea of using a Creamatocrit in our level III NICU to the NICU
docs and we all have some practical questions that I am hoping someone can
help me answer.
The questions are:
1.Are there any studies to show a decrease in NEC /tolerance issues with the
use of hind milk vs. human milk fortifier (cow's milk based) (I couldn't find
anything)
2. Are there differences in Calcium, Phos. levels from foremilk vs. hindmilk. (I
didn't think so)
3. How to supplement Calcium and Phosphorus. (Assuming that there remains
a need to with growing premies)
4. Would anyone be willing to send protocols tht you use at your hospital for
creamatocrit use/lactoengineering.
I would love to see us move forward with this but need some answers that are
evidenced based (and rightly so) to convince the powers that be...
Thanks for any help!
Christine Hansson
