Robin, where do you get these cards or are they made for just your
hospital? [log in to unmask]

Subject: crib cards

Here at the local hospital where I work, crib cards have worked out
great. I
have put the hunger cues on the front of the pink or blue card and new
parents like the idea of a quick reference of knowing when their baby is

beginning to get hungry. Inside the folded card is the babies name,
weight,
MD name and a check off which all are expected to follow. ie breast
only,
pacifiers ok or not, or bottle feed. If someone gives a pacifier to a
baby that
the parents have not checked off, their are reprecussions from staff. I
have
even seen a MD stop a nurse from bottle feeding because the parents
didn't
check it off and no medical reason for it. I am fortunate to come from
a very
high breastfeeding community and for our hospital, breastfeeding is the
norm
from birth. Most of the female OB's have delivered their babies here,
and I
have had the pleasure of helping a few of them on their own
breastfeeding
journey.
