The Ban the Bags campaign has been very busy over the holidays and has just mailed a letter to the CEO, chiefs of pediatrics and obstetrics, director of nursing, and the marketing departments in all hospitals in Massachusetts that still give out commercial discharge bags. The letter was jointly signed (with logos) by the Massachusetts chapters of the AAP, ACOG, and AWHONN. You can see the press release and letter at:

http://www.massbfc.org/news/index.html#jointLetter

The letter urges hospitals to discontinue the practice. The Ban the Bags website has new items for people to use in the effort to rid us of one more barrier to breastfeeding, www.banthebags.org. We have noticed that many hospitals have been approached by formula companies with bribes of free continuing education. Wonder how biased that is!
