Dear Friends:
If we are working with a nursing mother who discovers that she is pregnant again and her doctor insists on weaning imediately, the question is then, is the mother prohibited from orgasm also? In other words, if the MD is concerned about the pulsatile release of oxytocin triggering labor, than the mother must be on pelvic rest also.
For a few pregnant women the prohibition against oxytocin release is important; for most, it isn't.
warmly,
Nikki Lee RN, MS, Mother of 2, IBCLC, CIMI, CCE
