Me too! I recently had the privilege of speaking to Dr Leon Mitoulas re his
research on fat content of human milk. He feels that a creamatocrit might
be useful in determining how adequately a mother of a preterm baby is
expressing - given that the fat content increases as the breast gets
emptier - and the emptier breast encourages rapid milk synthesis. For
research purposes I can see it may be interesting, but in practice, if the
mother is expressing within adequate guidelines that are reassessed daily,
creamatocrits could unnecessarily complicate the picture? Lactoengineering
for a micro-prem may be a different story?
