I think Mom should stay the course. I would suggest she continue bottle
feeding in as comfortable a way for baby as possible and also do kangaroo
care. If you've ever spent any time in a nicu, it is an awful place for
babies (most of them). Parents are often kept away much more than they are
allowed in, and many aversive things are done to babies. I think this baby
just wants some peaceful times and should be allowed baby led latching. Mom
should protect her supply and I would recommend a rental pump, not the Pump
In Style, if she can't afford, maybe one of the "scholarhips" or "grants"
from one of the major pump companies could be used. Personally, I would not
recommend shields, finger feeding, or anything new right now. She could wear
baby in a sling and co-sleep safely. I think the little person just needs
some TLC (tender loving care).
