Hi, Everyone,
In Australia we celebrate World Breastfeeding Week August 1-7th. We have
varying strategies and various levels of success over the years. The media
tend to come to us looking for a story now, but yes, you do have to beware
of the backlash that sometimes occurs.
This year the Australian Breastfeeding Association is holding our biggest
ever conference "Hot Milk" in Melbourne. With 10 weeks to go, the response
has been sensational, with almost 1000 delegates registered so far - the
energy generated by all these delegates in the one area just has to do
something amazing for breastfeeding.
The week will kick off with a "Breastfeeding Safari" at the Werribee zoo,
featuring Prof Peter Hartmann and (most of) his team. Then we have the
conference from the 2nd - 4th of August.
Let me know if you have any special ideas that have really "worked well" at
large conferences - we want this to be truly memorable and energising. We
hope to use the conference to draw attention to World Breastfeeding Week.
