I want to start a B&B - a Breast and Breakfast. A place where moms
can go after they leave the hospital, before they go home. They would
get round the clock breastfeeding help until they are confident. They
would get meals brought to them and linens changed. No medical stuff.
Just a cozy homelike place where the mother is mothered.
Anyone want to fund this?
A "good" story - I worked with a mom a couple years ago who had had a
breast reduction. She stands out as my most dedicated client. The
first time I saw her, baby transferred 6 cc's. The third time she had
tripled her supply and the baby transferred 18 cc's. She pumped with
a Classic after most feedings because "by the end of the day I have
enough for my husband to feed her a bottle of just breastmilk." She
used an SNS and used Domperidone. I couldn't wait to see what would
happen with her next baby.
She just had Baby #2 and she saw my partner and said "I can't do that
again - and I want to rent a Classic."
She has been transferring 2 ounces, hears gulping and great weight
gain with only 3-5 oz of formula supplementation. While I think she
is awesome, she worries that she is starving her baby. I hope she
will gain confidence with each weigh in. She is in our breastfeeeding
hall of fame.
