From what I understand about POTS, it seems to occur in conjunction
with chronic fatigue syndrome. I have read a lot about CFS and the most
effective treatments seem to involve a combination of nutritional,
structural and other holistic therapies. If this is caused by medical
intervention of other birth trauma, I would think the bodywork would be
sufficient, but if this is an ongoing problem, I would absolutely
include nutritional evaluation. I would encourage the mom to have
cranial-sacral therapy, integrated manual therapy or similar bodywork,
as well as seeing a nutritionist who is very competent in holistic
practices if it also seems indicated. The best treatments I know for
dysfunction of the nervous system, especially caused by injury are
neuro-muscular, as I mentioned above, but I bet acupuncture would also
be beneficial.

As always, this is not a breastfeeding problem--it is a condition that
a mother who happens to be breastfeeding happens to have.
