Awesome post, Susan. I love hearing the details of your experience!
There are plenty of babies in the US that need human milk; an effort to
collect, store and ship human to another country, while nobly-intentioned, is
but one of several ways to proceed.
Research shows that exclusive breastfeeding is worth it in some countries
for babies whose mothers are HIV+; Coutsoudis research has been replicated.
If we can add Vitamin A sources to diets along with human milk, that will be
also a good thing to do. Vitamin A from sweet potatoes and yams would be
possible, no?
I heard once that 33 babies died each day from HIV, while 333 babies a
day die of unsafe alternative feeding methods..............
