I would want this mom on a closed system breast pump like the Ameda. I
have seen a lot of condensation in the Symphony tubing and there has
been one report with the FDA of some bacteria that was found in the sick
baby and in the tubing. On that king of open system it goes down the
tubing and into the milk. I am not the queen of this, I have just seen
this information in the past....
The only other MRSA information I have seen is in the Breastfeeding
Atlas, where the lady had mastitis and pumped and dumped for a while. If
mom is pumping out thick, clumping, or stringy milk, or stuff that
clumps in the bottle, this is not a good sign.
