I believe that this mother has had some significant breast/nipple changes that warrant a look by a breast specialist and possibly a biopsy. I disagree that she has no symptoms of mastitis, in that the breast changes and stringy milk would be symptoms (or signs). I do agree with one sided bf at this time, and I would not be opposed to gently expressing, provided that she is seen by a specialist and followed up.Laurie Wheeler, IBCLC, MN, RN Mississippi, s.e.
