Chris Mulford used to say that a mom needs to know 3 things when leaving the
hospital, Is the baby getting enough? (pees & poops); does it hurt? where to
get help (in the community).
Sometimes as a hospital LC thats about all you have time for :-(
Remember post partum moms in the first 2 days (while they are in the
hospital in the US) are sort of overwhelmed (brain not functioning at
capacity :-) I always felt my job as hospital LC was to teach the staff
nurses enough that I wasn't needed for the everyday, getting them started
things, and I was there for helping out in unusual things that needed more
expertise.
