Dear all:
I want to restate in very simple terms. It is NOT anger that is the enemy. Women
throughout the centuries have been admonished that they are not allowed to feel angry.
This is hogwash. It is what we choose to do with our anger that counts. We can either
allow it for destructive purposes --- and these include "denial" which tends to be a gender-
stereotyped favorite --- as well as self-violence or violence against others of a verbal or
physical nature OR ... we can channel that anger very effectively into thinking through
concrete actions that result in change.
It is not realistic to not feel anger. When you do, think what constructive use you can make
of that anger (after you write all the nasty notes you want and then delete them).
Best, Susan
