Ann,
A recent article in USA Today covered this subject. The article discusses a study which was published in the Journal of OB GYN and Neonatal Nursing. You can read the article from this website.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2006-12-03-baby-time_x.htm
29 moms were studied for the number and duration of visits and phone calls from 8am-8pm. They found that on the average moms experienced 54 visits or phone calls, averaging 17 minutes each!!! They also looked at time spent alone with baby. Only 24 times with baby, with half of those episodes being 9 minutes or less. Keep us posted on
your progress; our hospital is also considering implementing nap time.
