You know, Karyn-grace is right to say that not everyone will go to a mother-support group, even with the urging of health care providers. Many working mothers simply don't have the time, or don't perceive, even with urging, that it's well *worth* the time.
So part two: We need to be creating versions of mother support groups that work for working moms. Finding and promoting - or creating -on-line groups that disseminate good information. Starting groups that meet at malls (*seeing* other mothers and babies is *so* important!). Hooking clients together so they can form playgroups. Other ideas? What are people doing that works to put busy moms together with other busy moms, so that they can actually *see* life with an older nursling?
Or maybe really strong urging by health care providers *would* be enough. How many of us would suddenly find time to exercise if our HCPs tell us it's truly vital - not as an overall good thing but in our particular health situation? Maybe *I'm* not taking mother-to-mother participation seriously enough when I talk to moms about it. Hmmm....
