A business neighbor two doors down has been a bra customer for 20 years now.
Child #2, a daughter who is now 16, was breastfed until the age of 4 and
remembers it most fondly. This 16 year old has a long term girlfriend from
school soccer team who found herself pregnant from an older 20 year old
boyfriend. This now 16 year old single new mom who lives with her single
mother is breastfeeding due to the encouragement of this friend who tells
her constantly it is the best way and only way to feed a baby.
This friend is working hard encouraging the new mom to do her homework and
keep her grades up and apply and get into a high school program here in
Washington State called Running Start. Kids go to community college for
11th & 12th grades with funds allocated to the college instead of the high
school. Then they can enter a 4 year school with two years under their belt
and already paid for. She also thinks her friend will be allowed to bring
an exclusively breastfeeding baby to class at first, which is not possible
in high school. I hope she is right. Her mom, the customer, is bowled over
by her daughters efforts. I am too and so far it is working, her friend is
breastfeeding and doing her schoolwork.
