Sounds so familiar in our household! Steven at 8 weeks began to cry a lot,
would not go in his car seat, stopped nursing to sleep, and his stools became
frothy and green and looked like someone had used it as a hanky to blow their
nose!
So, eliminating dairy, citrus, nuts, and eggs did hte trick; however with
mothers that I know help I find they have not totally eliminated these. It is
not easy since they do not always go by the smae name on labels (i.e. whey,
etc) Allergy based groups became my friend and I use them as reference
sources now for recipes, etc. After 2 weeks of a pure elimination diet (oh
which I learned to eat veyr well and lots of great food to include pumpkin pie!)
and only allowing nursing on one breat for every 4-5 hours it did the trick. I
had a very large supply and would drown the poor thign at every nursing until
I layed in a chiar all the way back, pinched it down when I let down and
restricted feeds to the same breast for at least 3 hours if I was very uncomfy.
I hope this helps, remember to question them as to what they have eliminated
as this is key I have found. Many mothers do not cinsider dairy in many items
of which it is very present.
We dad have allergy testing done, nothing came up but I was told by the
allergist that in many elimination diets moms resort to soy which is the biggest
offender next to dairy and a huge crossover effect in the allergy world. So I
stick to my main point on foods; too much of anything spells bad news.
Good luck, she needs lots of support to see it through.
