I was diagnosed with a galactocele (milk cyst) shortly after the birth
of my first baby. I was nervous about it because my mother had just
been diagnosed and treated for breast cancer -- but was told not to
worry, that it was simply a "big spot" on one of my milk ducts.
I noticed that the galactocele filled up as my breast did, then became
harder to find as my breast emptied. By the time my baby was around 4
months old, I could barely find it at all, as my breasts weren't
filling to engorgement anymore.
Unless there is something unusual about the galactoceles in the mother
you are describing, I can't imagine why she should need to wean
because of them...but I'm interested in reading what some more
informed responses might suggest.
