Years ago, I was hospitalized for some weeks following a brain abscess. It felt like living in Grand Central Station, so I decided to keep track. I counted everyone who came in, whether they'd come in before or not, including my roommate's visitors. One hundred entries into my room in 24 hours! I knew that simply had to be an anomaly, so I did it again for another 24 hours: 120! Absolutely astounding. If you're wondering how I was able to count throughout the 24 hours... well, it wasn't hard. It's possible - though unlikely - that I slept through some. What *was* hard was sleeping.
