Germaine,
I'd wonder if the pituitary problems were affecting her prolactin level. If
her prolactin level was high, she may have trouble getting pregnant. That
can be treated, but it should be looked at closely.
You have a great resource at MGH for these questions. Call Dr. Corrine Welt
at 617-726-8437. She's a reproductive endocrinologist who is also doing
research with giving prolactin (vs. placebo) to mothers of preterm infants with
poor milk supply. She may be able to help you with these questions. She's
has always been happy to help me when I have these kinds of questions.
