With a massive bleed like this and its possible effect on the pituitary I
expected delayed lactogenisis. I am hopeful that we will achieve full
breastfeeding within a day or two. Is this realistic?
Dear Friends:
Our esteemed colleague poses an interesting question.
In my clinical experience I have seen every possible reaction to a
hemorrhage. One woman I worked with had a hemorrhage 10 days postpartum and
required 2 units of blood to be transfused. Her supply disappeared, but then
recovered in about 3 weeks of pumping.
Other women I have worked with have never recovered or established a
supply.
Lawrence says that reactions are variable.
Go for it all and see what happens!
warmly,
