I had the pleasure of attending a symphony concert this past weekend at
which a Robert Schumann song cycle was performed.  The music was written in
1840, the year Schumann won a lawsuit against his future father-in-law to
win the right to marry his beloved Clara. He used as lyrics the poetry of
Adelbert von Chamisso (1781-1838) and was obviously inspired by the poem to
daydream about his courtship, marriage and family life. The audience was
provided a copy of the German lyrics with English translation, and I thought
lactnetters would enjoy the words of the seventh song in the cycle. (Anyone
desiring the German original can e-mail me privately):

but now I am euphoric.
