I think the public discussion about "vitamin D" "supplementation"
could be greatly enhanced by referring to it by what it actually is,
medical treatment with the steroid hormone cholecalciferol.
"Vitamins" are seen almost universally as innocuous, beneficial,
wonderful magic fairy dust that we should all be ingesting in
artificial form at least daily for maximum health (that's a whole
different debate...). Hormones, not so much.
