I am working with a mom that is exclusively pumping to preserve her supply
until baby can be seen for short frenulum (another story!). She is using a
Lactina and her supply is doing well. Her problem is the shields. Her
breast tissue is so elastic that no matter which size shield she uses it
pulls in too much tissue and she has trouble with milk flow. If she pulls
back on her breast while pumping and manipulates her breast in the sheild
for the entire 20 minutes then she is able to empty her breasts. It almost
seems as if her breast tissue is being pulled into the shield too far,
which doesn't allow for "compression" in the right spot. If she turns down
the suction then she expresses much less milk. She has tried every size
shield except the large glass one. The 24mm is the most comfortable but she
has the same problem regardless. She does not have large breasts. Does
anyone have any ideas?
