First, my prayers go out to every mother and baby in danger - from all
causes, in all countries.
At the recent ILCA conference, Dr. Miriam Labbok concisely summarized the 4
most important issues in emergency situations:
* IMMEDIATE ACTIONS NECESSARY IN EMERGENCIES:
1. Safe corners/safe havens for pregnant and lactating women
2. Relactation support
3. Control (lock up) donations of milk powders/formula until need can
be assessed and alternative use determined.
4. Plan breastfeeding maintenance and relactation support into
therapeutic feeding approach
