Hi Wise Women,
I am hoping you might be able to help me out with some billing
questions either on or off list.
I haven't worked as an IBCLC in a few years (since the birth of my
daughter) and know of a
place near me that needs some help. I am wondering how to structure
the financial aspect.
I used to do home visits and charge $75 for the visit. A few years
have gone by and the price of
gas is really a factor now. I am thinking of seeing patients for a
few hours a couple of times a week
at a facility and perhaps charging the facility an hourly rate. Any
suggestions on what I should charge?

I am wondering how much you charge for a home visit (is it per hour
or per visit)?

If you see patients for a particular facility and see them at the
facility, how much do you give the
facility, or does the facility bill for you?

If the facility bills for you, do you know what codes to use? Can
you bill for antepartum visits? The facility I am
thinking about working with I don't believe has ever billed for
lactation visits before. So this info would really be
helpful!

Do you know (on average) how much insurance companies pay for visits
like these? And if you know,
do you know which insurance companies are the most amenable to work
with?

I know this will take a bit of time for you to answer so thank you
so much, in advance!!!!

Leslie Stern CNM, IBCLC
