Greetings All!
Long ago and far away I posted a conundrum about a baby that just
wouldn't/couldn't latch? ( It was the case that brought me to join LACTNET)
I thought it was tounge tie, but I wasn't sure, so I referred them to a
IBLC. They didn't go but rather went to a local Mother-Baby Care nurse who
got the baby to latch with a sheild. Well, the mother nursed with a sheild
for a while, then managed without it and that was the last I heard from
them, until yesterday...
The grandmother called me for another reason and, after business, we talked
about our various children and grandchildren. I asked after the nursing
pair. It seems things didn't go so smoothly and then the mom got thrush and
she went to someone else (the grandmother didn't know who) and, lo and
behold, the baby has tounge tie. So off they went to an ENT who said Oh
yes, this is tounge tie, and clipped it and now everything is just fine.
I even got an apology.
I hope I'm not gloating, it's just such a relief to know that I wasn't
seeing things.
On another topic, at the end of the summer I saw a lot of thrush,
especially during a major heat wave. Has anyone else experienced this?
All the best to all of you,
