Hello all, I have been reading, enjoying and learning so much from you
all! I have had a doctor request that co-sleeping not be allowed in our
hospital any longer due to the fact that our birthing beds do not have 4
bedside rails. He requests that after each birth, the mom be changed into
a surgery bed for the safety of the infant.
This simply is not feasible for us! We are a baby-friendly facility and
policy states that as long as someone is in the room with mom it is okay
for the baby to remain in the bed with her.
This particular physician is trying to change this policy based on infant
safety (even though we have no history of a baby falling from the bed!).
Does anyone have any info or policies on this? Any input would be
appreciated! Thanks so much!
