Along the lines of hope for docs, one of our pediatric hospitalists (who
has little lactation experience, no personal experience, not to mention
little lactation knowledge)announced to me just last evening that she is
going to actually take the 40 hour lactation course!I have been talking
this up to her since she joined us over two years ago. She is
uncomfortable when the nurses know more than she does, so.............
Talk about a step in the right direction. I was pleased to see this small
step! Maybe the AAP's renewed interest in the benefits of breastmilk will
encourage other physicians to pursue additional training in this area.

So,I do think that we LC's are making inroads in small steps. We just have
to comtinue to take it slow and be patient. That's okay. Slow and steady
wins the race.
