How long after a mother has used methamphetamine does the drug remain in
her breast milk? I checked the archives and see where others have asked
questions but I do not see a reply. I only see amphetamine information in Hale
2006, LactMed or other references. The Breastfeeding Answer Book, 3rd
edition, pg 602-603 says a mother using hallucinogenic amphetamines "should
interrupt breastfeeding for at least 24 to 48 hours, depending on the dose".
Would methamphetamine use be the same?
Out of curiosity, why is there so little information written in reference material
on methamphetamine use and breastfeeding? I am guessing that it is because
little or no research has been done because it would be unethical to do
research on breastfeeding mothers.
