I am so touched that within minutes, I had four copies of the Chavez
photo, and within six hours, ten more copies came in!
This was the first time I had spoken to a class of mixed majors, so I
started with the photo, and what they as Americans noticed first. They
were a bit chagrined that no one, not even the prof, had a clue who
Hugo Chavez is. (I should thank this list for making me so much more
aware of the world!)
It was a strange presentation. All the usual questions about frequency
and duration and breast augmentation, but these kids (college juniors,
so age 20ish) were completely disgusted by the thought of donor milk
and toddler breastfeeding. I actually had to admonish them a couple of
times, because one or two shouted out that is was "Just Wrong!"
When I was peeved enough, I told them that even in my tiny backwater
town, I could think of a 4yo, two 5yos, a one 6yo who were all nursing,
without even having to think very hard.
I am interested to see if I get any follow up questions from them.
